Pat – Kerry, 1997 is inspired by Kerry’s All-Ireland victory in 1997. On that day, the great Maurice Fitzgerald scored nine of Kerry’s thirteen points while wearing the number 15 jersey — a detail reflected in this piece. Although Kerry wore a modified jersey in the final, featuring a wider yellow band to avoid a colour clash with Mayo’s green, the painting depicts the more traditional style worn up to the semi-final. The GAA logo used on jerseys throughout the 1990s also appears here — a simple, effective design that still holds up today.
